SR Comments Dwindle Slightly

The new commenting system appears to have only slightly affected the Register. The amount of comments seemed to have dropped, but that's to be expected for awhile anyway.

I think it's worth if if you cut down on all the trash. You only get half the comments but they all seem to be worth reading.

Whirled Peas, would you be interested in joining this blog? If so, send an email to sanduskyregurgitator@yahoo.com

I disagree with this story. I have been following the results since the Nazi tactics of the SR and have found the blogging has dwindled to sometimes 3 or 4 blogs on any one story. The total numbers of blogs you see are not the true results of what has happened as a result of the SR cowtowing to the city commissioners or the county prosecuter. They have carried over the blogs that were posted before the institution of their tactics to shut down the comments that are against anything this commission is trying to sneak through to keep the public from knowing what is going on in this politically corrupt town. You can still give them a false name and address and email address to post, so it is not going to accomplish a thing.

Got to agree with this guy.

It looks like this 411 Firelands is an advocate for the SR as they obviously do not see the same lack of posting daily on the SR stories that I have seen. They are lucky to get 1 or 2 blogs on any story each day, and most of them are just blogs stating, about time. Nothing substantial in any of them. The conundrum of this is how do you tell people about this site without having to register on the SR, and would the SR allow it to be posted. If anyone has an answer to this, please post here.

Actually, I was waiting for the dust to settle. I can see that you're right. The SR is taking a pretty good hit on the number of comments being left on their stories. I'm not an advocate for their site, otherwise I wouldn't have started this one. I see alot of upset people who don't want their names out there for fear of retaliation. Believe me, I know how real of an issue retaliation is. I just don't think that people have the right idea on why the SR did what they did. That's all I'm saying. I may have underestimated how much of a hit they'd take. I think as time goes on, people will try to find a place to post on local issues. If this is the site they pick, that would be great, but it's a slow process. I agree that once the comments drop and you lose some of the jokers (Hancrack me up, Digger Nick) the banter loses it's humor and the site pretty much loses it's appeal.

With blogger, you can choose your posting name and stay completely anonymous. As long as everyone knows where to draw the line, this commenting standard is okay.

Gray, the SR doesn't seem to have a problem with providing a link to this site inside the comments of their stories. If I were you, I'd frame it in such a way as to not make it look like you're trying to redirect their web traffic to 411. I would look at it more like we're trading traffic instead of stealing it.

Also, you're free to post a link to the site in the SR forums. Someone did it once in an individual thread, but there hasn't been an article about this blog yet.

Mr.ED - Thanks for opening up this forum. I saw the web address listed in one of the SR blogs.

Keep up the exposure. I understand that some city commissioners may be interested in reading this blog if someone like 411 were to send the web link to their e-mail address listed on the city website...

It used to be that you would need around 50 comments to get listed on the right side of the comments list. Now it only takes 18 to get listed, what a drop in the blogs. It looks like nothing is being said that is meaningful on these stories. When checking the blogs all you read is how great an idea it was to censor the SR blogs but nothing meaningful is ever said on the stories. What a flop this was. I hope this site becomes the main site for bloggers and takes it away from the SR.
